Under Stress
On-the-job stress is a commonly occurring problem in today’s society. For most workers, job-related stress comes with the territory so it’s important to develop ways to cope. Stress can be minimized if you know the things that cause it in your workplace and develop ways to keep your sanity in the midst of it all.
Common sources of job-related stress and coping strategies include:
Rude co-workers
An unprofessional, tactless, or rude co-worker can cause a lot of stress in your working environment. Considering the number of people that we are required to interact with on a daily basis to carry out the duties of our jobs it is guaranteed that a clash of personalities will eventually occur. The goal is not to let an aggravating co-worker affect your work performance.
Several means of handling this type of problem exist. Here it’s important to choose your battles. If you can ignore the rude behavior and get your work done, let it go if at all possible.
When ignoring them doesn’t work, you may want to try talking the situation out with them. Sometimes, they may not even know that they’re coming across as being rude. Getting it out in the open relieves that added stress.
If that doesn’t help, you’ll have to go to your boss and tell them what’s going on and that it’s been affecting your work. Sometimes they’ll take ahold of the situation themselves in order for things to run smoothly.
A Mean Boss!
Maybe your nasty cube-mate isn’t the problem but your horribly demanding manager is. Tolerating a boss who’s unfair or belligerent can send your stress level through the roof. Try discussing your issues with him or her before taking any further action to remedy the problem.
|If direct discussion with your supervisor proves ineffective, the next step is to approach the next level of management. Document the inappropriate behavior you have witnessed or personally experienced and report it to someone in human resources or follow the appropriate channels for your company.
Most companies do not want the hassle and expense of employing new staff. In most cases, if the offenses of the manager are valid they will take steps to correct the behaviors and resolve any problems. Do not allow poor management to cause you undue stress. Take action for your own sake!
Assignment Overload
Having more work than you can handle can make stress inevitable. Take on only what you can handle at one time. Ask for help from others and be willing to reciprocate and help them when they need it. A lot of things can be accomplished with teamwork.
Stress in the workplace can come from many other sources as well. Learn what causes your stress and find out how to work through it. Your workplace can be a stressful environment, but don’t let that stress get the best of you.

Under Stress
There are so many suggestions on how to relieve stress out there and with good reason. The world is full of stressful people. Generally people are so busy they have little time for anything.
We are victims of a world gone mad. Think about it. Our lives are so busy and we never seem to have enough time. Our quest for more stuff; money, success and material things is what has caused our stressful lives and why we are these ticking time bombs.
Disease, chronic illness, hypertension and even heart attacks are just some of the symptoms of stress. Many people don’t realize the stress they put themselves under on a daily basis. Our bodies were made to help us in stressful, fight or flight, situations when we need adrenaline quickly to protect ourselves. We were not however supposed deal with stress all the time.
So how does one relieve stress and avoid the effects of it on the body? In a moment you will get a chance to read 5 tips to effective stress relief but before you do there are two things that you should be doing on a daily basis to help you deal with stress.
The first thing is to get off adrenaline. One of the best tips on how to relieve stress is to plan better. Life is always going to throw you a curve ball you don’t expect but this should not be happening to you all of the time. A little planning can be the best thing you can do to keep your stress levels down. Your health and well-being could be at stake.
The second thing is to drink less caffeine and if you are a smoker to cut back, or better yet, quit smoking. Caffeine and Nicotine put a lot of stress on your body. Try to limit your intake where possible.
So let’s now work through the 5 steps to a stree free mind and body.
1. Get some exercise
Regardless of what your definition of exercise is. It could be going for a run or even just a long walk or perhaps a good workout at the gym. Relaxing while you exercise is what is important as well as exercising on a regular basis. If you are not enjoying the exercise you are doing then there is really no point.
2. Relaxation and meditation
I know it sounds easy to say just relax or chill out but most people don’t know how to. There is no need to know how to meditate or anything like that, you should just be able to get some time by yourself without being disturbed.
3. Do something for yourself
Treating yourself doesn’t mean going out and buying a whole lot of stuff. It does mean doing something for yourself. You could take some time to be alone without any distractions and just enjoy the pleasure of your own company.
4. Video and board games
Games can be a perfect way to relieve stress. Put some thought into who you invite to play with to make sure you avoid the game becoming to intense and stressful. There are some great free software games you can download off the internet that are great to help relieve stress
5. Get some decent sleep
Get enough proper rest. When you interrupt your sleeping patterns you put unnecessary and potentially harmful stress on your body. To rest properly your mind needs to be at rest. It may not sound possible but you can turn off thoughts about worry simply by not reacting to them.
It is not necessary to do all of these from the word go but you should start with one and do it regularly until it becomes effective. It is important to relax no matter what you do. There is no reason to wait any longer.
